About the Role: As the Senior Manager, Packaging Development and Engineer, you're responsible and accountable for the end-to-end launch and execution for all elements of package development.
To accomplish this you will work cross-functionally, lead a junior packaging engineer and be the right hand to the Vice President of Packaging of Development and Engineering.
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Packaging of Development and Engineering.
Strategy + Planning Partner with the VP of Packaging of Development and Engineering to build strategies, innovations, libraries and technical packaging documentation Drive the strategy and success of larger projects; including but not limited to NPD for the enterprise Lead packaging development and engineering programs independently and establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans; delegating assignments to direct report Develops, modifies and executes company policies that may affect both immediate operations and enterprise wide initiatives Encounters varied problems within the area/unit that require investigation, analysis, and review of professional standards.
Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires conceptual thinking Technical Development Drive and ensure OLAPLEX sustainability goals within package development are met; including all new and existing launches and meeting requirements for brand, planet and people benefits Identify and implement opportunities for innovation, cost savings, continuous improvement within both package and process for new & existing products Partner with internal component suppliers to ensure package testing needs are met and validated; inclusive of developing testing procedures and testing plans to ensure materials and decoration processes support the capabilities to produce packages per Design and Marketing expectations Develop and own robust package component specifications, fill and assemblies, range boards and standards with the alignment of internal cross functional teams as well as with suppliers & contract manufacturers to validate functionality and design aesthetics of the package Leverages subject matter expertise to own technical drawing approvals for all new tools and stock componentry; including validating proper fit/form/function between all mating components and ensuring proper package material selection for all new formulations developed for launches Leadership and Cross Functional Relationships Actively engage and lead supplier base, cross functional teams and external manufacturers to support all dimensions of the business.
Manage one or more direct reports.
Provides training, coaching and guidance to direct reports and cross functional teams to achieve functional goals and deliverables Partner with Project Managers for coordination of developmental timelines.
Drive project execution for each launch, maintain key date deliverables and drive continuous improvement programs Partner with functional and cross functional partners to build expertise and capabilities About You: You are extremely agile and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
You're technically strong with excellent knowledge of materials and engineering components.
In addition, you are highly skilled to adapt and quickly problem solve in the moment and you possess strong change management skills.
Knowledge in sustainability and innovation is also a plus.
8+ years of experience in Package Engineering and Development.
Bachelor's of Engineering degree required Experience structuring BOM's, component specifications, line trials, standards and range boards Technically strong.
Prefer experience in Prestige/Luxury CPG Product area Strong interpersonal, organizational, teaching and communication skills Ability to adapt and quickly problem solve in the moment Possess strong change management skills Critical thinker - able to sort through issues, align direction and execute Extensive knowledge of the package supplier community Knowledge of various office software systems (Google, Excel, Slack, Powerpoint) We'd love to have you apply, even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement.

Our Total Rewards: The annual base pay for this position is$116,500 - $162,750 with eligibility for an annual bonus.
The actual base pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, years of relevant experience, skill level, functional expertise, certificates or other professional licenses held and geographic location.
