Senior Underwriter, Excess Casualty - (2300002R)

Job Objectives:
As a Senior Underwriter, you will manage and grow a portfolio of general casualty business by exercising proper underwriting discipline, and by marketing and servicing both existing and potential retail clients.
This position focuses on retail distribution with a targeted approach on construction, real estate, and products liability risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
Perform account analysis according to Allied World (US) General Casualty guidelines
Develop account pricing/ structure/ make recommendations
Perform and document referrals
Prepare quotes, binders, underwriting worksheets within company guidelines
Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines
Delegate and supervise work to Account Coordinators as needed
Attend Client meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable
Market to retailers within assigned region and engage production meetings
Work with Legal department for manuscript wording analysis and preparation as needed
Ability to interact with senior management on referral items.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Excellent Communication skills for both internal and external clients
Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
2-5 years experience in General Casualty underwriting
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task required
CPCU designation, or other applicable insurance designations
Willingness to travel for client meetings and broker visits throughout the assigned region
Compensation:
$100,000 - 130,000
The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market.
The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.
Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
