Haitian Creole-Speaking Moderator for 1-Hour Focus Group (Brooklyn)

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and fluent Haitian Creole-speaking moderator to facilitate a 1-hour online (virtual) focus group discussion.
As a moderator, you will play a crucial role in leading the discussion, ensuring participants' engagement, and eliciting valuable insights.
This is a temporary position for a specific project.
Responsibilities: - Lead and moderate a 1-hour focus group discussion conducted in Haitian Creole.
- Create a comfortable and inclusive environment for participants to express their opinions and share experiences.
- Clearly explain the purpose and objectives of the focus group to participants.
- Encourage active participation and manage group dynamics effectively.
- Ask open-ended questions to elicit in-depth responses and insights from participants.
- Actively listen to participants, probe for additional information, and encourage diverse perspectives.
- Ensure all participants have an equal opportunity to contribute and express their thoughts.
- Maintain a neutral and unbiased stance throughout the discussion.
- Manage the time effectively to ensure all planned topics are covered within the 1-hour timeframe.
- Take detailed notes during the focus group to capture key points, quotes, and observations.
- Provide a summary of the focus group findings and key takeaways to the project team.
Requirements: - Native or near-native fluency in Haitian Creole, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven experience in moderating focus groups or similar qualitative research discussions.
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage and manage group dynamics effectively.
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural nuances and sensitivities related to Hmong-speaking participants.
- Excellent active listening skills and the ability to ask probing questions to deepen understanding.
- Attention to detail and the ability to capture accurate and comprehensive notes during the session.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the focus group process.
- Flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and adjust the discussion as needed.
- Familiarity with market research methodologies and ethics is a plus.
