Part-Time Custodian (71126)

Part-Time Custodian (71126) Location: Brooklyn Description: Under direct supervision and with limited latitude for independent judgment, performs cleaning, labor and life safety in support of the maintenance of the Institute's buildings and grounds.
Position Duties Maintain cleanliness indoors and outdoors, including snow removal and waste management.
Move furniture and equipment as needed.
Ensure facility upkeep, including furniture, equipment, and structural maintenance.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of walkways and exterior areas.
Care for and maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, and inventory.
Report equipment damage or malfunctions promptly.
Inspect and report building conditions, overseeing repairs when necessary.
Handle standard building repairs, minor maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
Keep yard areas, walkways, and adjacent areas in good condition.
Update supervisors on completed tasks, maintaining logs.
Perform snow removal duties and coordinate equipment movement.
Respond to security issues, emergencies, and assist with fire safety.
Assist in implementing emergency response and evacuation plans, including fire drills and documentation.
Facilitate meetings to review rules and evacuation procedures.
Carry out any other assigned tasks.
Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required.
Completion of course in basic building management is preferred.
Experience and Skills: Three years experience as a building custodian or handyperson.
Must have the ability to work well with diverse populations; and demonstrated level of cultural competence.
Familiarity with building systems (i.
e.
H VAC, BMS etc).
Licenses & Certificates: Valid NYS drivers license.
This is a Local 311 position.
The Rate for this position is $30.
